The Amsterdam Sustainable Cocoa Conference at Chocoa, Netherlands
23 Jun 2022 - 25 Jun 2022
The Amsterdam Sustainable Cocoa Conference at Chocoa is back June 23 – 24, as a hybrid event, live in the centre of Amsterdam as well as virtual on the same digital platform that was used last year and that was hailed by many participants as the best virtual conference experience they have had during COVID times. Usually taking place in the last full week of February, for obvious reasons the organizers chose to postpone it to June so they can receive everyone who can travel to Amsterdam in person.
The program and speakers will provoke vivid debates. The first day centres around the proposed EU legislation on company (and company management) due diligence for deforestation and human rights infringements in their supply chains. Who will end up paying for the costs of the improved traceability and transparency? What will be the impact on the sourcing strategies and supply chains? After the presentations the audience will be able to join virtual debate tables to further discuss the issue. Speakers include Sebastiaan van der Hoek of Cargil, José Iturríos of the Peru Cocoa Alliance, Amy Ching of Satelligence, Jack Steijn, co-chair of the ISCO Traceability Working Group. Special guest is Michel Arrion of ICCO. The second day will focus on agroforestry and impact finance for agroforestry projects as well as innovations. Speakers include representatives of KOA, the TSIRO project in Madagascar, the COP27 cocoa initiative, MOCCA (flavour map), ETG and Rabobank.
Chocoa itself will be a three day event, including Saturday masterclasses for chocolate makers. The trade fair at Chocoa will be back as well with exhibitors including cocoa producers from Cameroon, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Uganda, Peru, Sierra Leone and Venezuela.
FCC members will benefit of a 20% discount on all tickets using the code 20FCC2022CHOCOA on https://www.chocoa.nl/tickets

This is due to large gatherings and travel being restricted by governments across the world for the foreseeable few months. The International Cocoa Organization is currently monitoring reports from the World Health Organisation (WHO) daily. We must put the health and safety of our attendees and staff above all else.
